about

After "Traces" and "Need Eden", double bass player Claude Tchamitchian wanted to regain the intimacy of a light formation while keeping the compositional and orchestral idea that had prevailed in the creation of the sextet and the tentet. The idea of "orchestral suite" is still there with the possibility of a less loaded and more suggestive writing as well as the interaction in the game inherent in a small formation.

And it’s very natural that the idea of a trio came up. He also imagined another component to the music he wanted to create: a bit like what one can feel during a walk in nature, translate the feeling of this multitude of elements that interact with each other, in a very “mobile” way such as water, wind, birds, or very “rooted” such as trees, hills or mountains.

To give substance to this imagination, it was obvious for Claude Tchamitchian to call on Christophe Monniot and Tom Rainey both for their virtuosity so airy and their creativity so deep, as for the desire for some time to conceive a project with them, somehow "made to measure"!
